Again, Bridge Meeting Thursday, Oct. 17, at 5 p.m. at the Baptist Life Center on Armory Road behind the Hot Spot in Lockhart.
I know how some of you love to burn your trash, so this is a warning for you.
One of my customers came in for a haircut, and I asked him how he hurt his face. I asked him also if I could tell about it in my newsletter, and he gave me permission.
It seems that he burns his trash since he lives in the country. In this trash he puts plastic water bottles with the tops screwed on. A piece of paper flew out of the fire and he bent down to pick it up off the ground, he heard a pow and the water bottle had exploded and stuck to the side of his face. So he has the circle of the top on his face and burnt his ear a little bit and put a few blisters on his arm.
So if you are in the habit of burning I recommend not to screw the tops on the bottles. He was lucky it didn’t hit his eye, it was that close.
Did I mention that Gonzalee Childers got married and moved to Florence. We all will miss his smiling face, that’s how you always saw him. I wish him all the happiness he deserves.
Speaking Of Love
A young lady pushing a baby carriage came to my shop and asked to use the phone to call her boyfriend. She had just moved here and couldn’t call him on her cell because she couldn’t get a signal. She said it wasn’t long distance.
Well after about a half hour I asked her if she had dialed a 1 in front of his number. She said yes, but he had a cell phone so it wasn’t long distance. I asked her to please hang up. Of course that was my gift to love. Wait until I get that bill and see how much I believe in love.
Well a few hours later a young man called and wanted to know if she was there. No, so then he told me how much he missed her and got as far as Union by the movies and had no idea where to go from there. He was from Wellman or Welford, somewhere around Spartanburg.
I made the directions as easy as can be. But instead of left he went right. Let’s just say, we had quite a few phone calls until I got him in Lockhart and right to her house.
Hope he knew how to get home, and they had a happy reunion.
My friend Judy Sprouse passed away last Friday, I’ll really miss her. Before she got sick she was always cutting up and joking with everyone. Always happy.
Brenda Jenkins lost her mother this last weekend also. She lived in Boiling Springs.
I see that Catie Allen and Clayton Smith will be getting married on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 6 p.m at Lockhart First Baptist Church.
Friends Helping A Friend
This Saturday, there will be a fun day at Union Fair Grounds to help the Plemmons family with Heather’s medical expenses. This is put on by her friends at Wallace Thompson Hospital.
Caroline Thomason and Josh Comer had a birthday Oct 1. Robert Carter and Katelyn Bagwell on the 3rd. Adam Harris, Abby Queen, and Gabrielle Manus on the 4th. Scott White and Vernon Stepp on the 5th. On the 6th are Janice Allen, Lynn Roberts, Brad James, and Michael Peake. Jay Reardon will be having one on the 10th, and Dennis Farr will have one on the 11th.
Lynn and Jay Williams have an anniversary on Oct. 6th. Mazel and Reid Palmer on the 11th and Katie and Jonathan Adams on the 18th.
Janice Allen is in rehab after falling down a few steps and broke her hip. I haven’t heard where she is yet, but I’ll let you know when I find out.
Good To Be Informed
Last Sunday I sat in a class at York Tech in order to renew my Cosmetology License, and I must say I like the new cuts. Finally they are nice enough for everyday wear.
We had about two hours of hearing what legislators and the governor wants to change with the hairdressers and other business owners. I’m glad I go to these or I would be in the dark and wonder why these things are happening to us. Some hairdressers exempted themselves and then will be the first to complain when LLR comes in for inspections and they are not ready.
Got A Deer
Let me tell you, Chuck got a deer! The first evening of bow season. He claims he gotten one every year, but I sure don’t remember. I hope his luck continues and spreads to Marvin, also.
Fire swept the plains and burned down the farmer’s barn. While he surveyed the wreckage, his wife called their insurance company and asked them to send a check for $50,000, the amount of insurance on the barn.
“We don’t give you the money,” a company official explained. “We replace the barn and all the equipment in it.”
“In that case,” replied the wife, “cancel the policy I have on my husband.”
What’s the difference between a hunter and a fisherman? A hunter lies in wait while a fisherman waits and lies.
Calendars And Cookbooks
If you want to buy a beautiful calendar from the Lockhart Freewill Baptist Church Ladies Auxiliary call Deanna or Tess, well you’ll have to call them at work because I don’t know another number but 545-2211. They are $6 and Anita and I still have Wesley Chapel Methodist Church cookbooks for $12. I’m at 545-6652.
Well, it’s bedtime again so I’ll say goodnight. Call at 545-6652. And I need a call from Charles Warner because I lost your email again.
