AIKEN — With a 30 driver team entering the gates at Aiken, S.C.’s Carolina Dragway, Union County Dragway was ready for action beginning Wednesday, Sept. 18.
Union’s Junior Dragster track champion, Britt Sinclair, went to the finals on the first race day of the five day long event. His runner up finish set the pace going into the main event on Saturday.
Union Modified track champion Jay Norris scored the runner up finish in the Summit Super Series run off between competing track champions, earning a berth in the national bracket finals in Memphis, TN on Oct, 12. There, Norris will go after $10,000 plus another $10,000 in prizes against the best the nation has to offer. He also ran the table in the main event, taking the win after eight grueling rounds of tough competition in the non electronics category.
This put Union County Dragway tied for the 6th position in the overall track team score for the weekend as other team members such as Pro driver Billy Reynolds Jr. also scored valuable points going deep into the program. To cap it all off, Union’s Hunter Carter took Sunday’s Junior Dragster win in the final race of the event.
All season long, Union County Dragway racers did battle with one another but they all united as a team at the bracket finals at Carolina Dragway. Each member played a big part in the success of the weekend. Racing is not over though, as Union County Dragway will play host to a big event coming Oct. 4-6, where a lot of neighboring tracks will be represented by excellent racers, all going after large prize money.
