LOUDON, N.H. — Matt Kenseth led a race-high 106 laps and claimed his seventh win of the season at the Sylvania 300 Sprint Cup race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
The number one seed in The Chase, Kenseth beat Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Kyle Busch for the second consecutive week, this time by .533 seconds.
“For me to win at New Hampshire, first of all, is more than a stretch and more than a dream,” Kenseth said from Victory Lane. “This is probably one of my worst places. I didn’t even know there was a Victory Lane here.”
This race also marked the 500th start for Kenseth in the Sprint Cup series. Greg Biffle was third, followed by Jimmie Johnson, Jamie McMurray and Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Kenseth became the third driver to win the first two races in the Chase. Tony Stewart accomplished the feat in 2011 en route to his third championship. Greg Biffle won the first two Chase races in 2008 and finished third in the standings.
