Hello everybody, local news on the way after we send out our friends and neighbors their friendly birthday wishes from Gottrocks The Birthday Fairy.


Birthdays

Happy Birthday wishes to former Whitmire resident Billy (Bill) Lindler, Brad Burleson, Mike Cheatham, Tony English, Lynn Greenway.


Special wishes to Mr. William Worthy who celebrated his 86th with family and friends. As we say, Whitmire-style, a delicious meal was served and a good time was had by all.”


My little handsome cousin, Rhett Gilliam, celebrated his fifth birthday with his family and his favorite chocolate covered ice cream cake, (and) “a good time was had by all.”


Anniversary

Happy Anniversary wishes to Cheryl and Danny Wayne Nichols.


Sympathy

One a sad note, we send our sympathy and best wishes to the families of former Whitmire resident Mr. Guy “Buck.”


Local News And Events

Main Street Yard Sale coming up Oct. 12 downtown. Space/spots are $10 per table/booth space. The Whitmire Jaycees are hosting this community event. Out of Town group or individual vendors are encouraged to rent spaces. This is a great opportunity for civic, school and church groups to earn money for projects and missions. Contact the Jaycees at whitmirejaycees@yahoo.com or call Sue Hollingsworth at 803-694-3797. The Jaycees also have a Facebook organization page.


TERA — Tyger Enoree River Alliance has posted their 2013 Fall Concert Schedule on their website. The Saturday afternoon concert series will be held at Heritage Park Strand Ampitheater. The concerts are an educational experience to showcase several different genres of music: Folk/Americana, Bluegrass, Piedmont Blues, and Country. The show times are 5 p.m. opening acts, 6 p.m. headliners. The concerts are free and the food is free. Hot dogs and soft drinks at the TERA Tailgate Tent near stage area.


Teachers and parents take advantage of the concerts to expand your students’ and child’s knowledge of music.

Former WHS Coaches William “Lefty” Johnson, Ken Coleman, and The Late Irby Raines Jr. were recently honored with a new stadium sign dedication at Friday’s football game. The Wolverine Stadium was re-named “Legends Stadium” in honor of all the contributions to the school and community these three longtime teachers, coaches, principals and friends have made.
