Hello everyone, local news from “The Whitty” on the way after the birthday wishes. Gottrocks The Birthday Fairy has had a grueling week of social events plus all back to school activities and shopping.

Happy Anniversary

We say Happy Anniversary to Maria and Marty McMurtury, the couple recently celebrated their 11 year of marriage. Belated 33rd anniversary wishes to former Whitmirians Rev. and Mrs. Steve Eargle.


On a sad note, we send our sympathy and best wishes to the families of Mrs. Miriam Hall Ray Hodges.

Public Library

Our public library with its renovations is looking good. Bullard “Miss” Linder posted some pictures on the libraries facebook page, showing the carpeting, new shelving, new computer room. Volunteers may be needed to help restock shelves. Please check the Facebook page and send inbox messages.

Fall Sports Registration

The Whitmire Recreation Fall Sports Registration is happening now. Check the Facebook page or town hall for forms. The Recreation Coordinator Joey Dillard can be reached at 803-694-0198 or 803-924-4057.

Concert Series

TERA (Tyger Enoree River Alliance) Volunteers October fall concert series is planned for the Strand Theater at Heritage Park.

The series will feature performers in four genres: Country, Folk, Americana, Jazz/Blues. More information will be added as we receive it. Vist The TERA Facebook page for information.

In Local News

The Banks Family had their reunion in Whitmire at the homes of Claudia Banks and Kim Wallace. I mentioned Kim’s son Amir is had visited over the weekend. According to Kim he has already been deployed to Saudi Arabia. Kim and her family members spent the week catching up. We send our congratulations to Kim and her new job with The Lake Murray Tourism Center.

WCS website has a new communication tool for parents and students. It”s called Planet High school. Parents and students can post pictures of their events on the feature “Replay It.”
